General Care
- After a few wearings or as needed, brush the costume to keep it looking good. Long shags may be kept fluffy by taking a comb on edge, or a rubber base wire brush and gently brushing the shag upward. This also helps keep out tangles.
- The head piece to your costume only requires brushing. Odors inside the head piece may be removed by spraying the inside of the head with Lysol and wiping it out with a cloth.
(Note: Before wearing any costume, please use a good deodorant--antiperspirant.)
Washing
- The cleaning of most short knapp body costumes can be done in your washer and dryer. Please wash on the gentle cycle.
- Long shag body costumes can be dry cleaned, or washed with Woolite. For washing first brush out tangles and put 6 to 8 inches of water in a bath tub with Woolite. Lay the suit in the water and let it soak for 1 0-15 minutes. Gently rinse and hang up to dry. As it dries, gently brush the shag upward to remove tangles and to fluff up the knapp.
Storage
- Head pieces should be kept in a box that is large enough to keep it from getting out of shape, or on a pedestal stand.
- The bodies may be kept on a hanger or in the box. With Proper Care Your Costume Will Last Many Years.
